Becky: Here's the informal way to ask 'Who is it?' in Hindi.
Shakti: [Normal] कौन है?(kauN hai?)
Becky: First is a word meaning 'who'
Shakti: [Normal] कौन [Slow] कौन (kauN)
Becky: Last is the word meaning 'is'
Shakti: [Normal] है [Slow] है(hai)
Becky: Listen again to the informal question meaning 'Who is it?'

Becky: Now, imagine you're speaking to someone you just met. Here's the formal way to ask, 'Who is that?'

Shakti: If someone knocks at the door, the most common expression we use in India is Kon, which means “who?” If you are the one knocking, just answer with your name, unless they are familiar with your voice already, then just say Main Hoon meaning “It's me.”
