Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you doing during the holiday?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about your holiday plans.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
तुम होली के दिन क्या कर रहे हो? (Tum hoLii ke DiN kyaa kar rahe ho?)
मैं समुद्र तट पर जाने की सोच रहा हूं। (main SamuDr Tat par jaaNe kii Soc rahaa huun.)
Once more with the English translation.
तुम होली के दिन क्या कर रहे हो? (Tum hoLii ke DiN kyaa kar rahe ho?)
“What are you doing for Holi?”
मैं समुद्र तट पर जाने की सोच रहा हूं। (main SamuDr Tat par jaaNe kii Soc rahaa huun.)
“I'm planning to go to the beach.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you doing for Holi?”
That's:
तुम होली के दिन क्या कर रहे हो? (Tum hoLii ke DiN kyaa kar rahe ho?)
Listen to it again:
तुम होली के दिन क्या कर रहे हो?, तुम होली के दिन क्या कर रहे हो? (Tum hoLii ke DiN kyaa kar rahe ho?, Tum hoLii ke DiN kyaa kar rahe ho?)
This Hindi sentence literally translates as “You Holi of day what do are be?” But it means “What are you doing for Holi?".
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
मैं [plan] की सोच रहा हूं। (main [plan] kii Soc rahaa huun.)
This Hindi sentence translates as "I [plan] of think are am." But it means "I’m planning to [plan]."
For example:
“I'm planning to go to the beach.”
मैं समुद्र तट पर जाने की सोच रहा हूं।, मैं समुद्र तट पर जाने की सोच रहा हूं। (main SamuDr Tat par jaaNe kii Soc rahaa huun., main SamuDr Tat par jaaNe kii Soc rahaa huun.)
