Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What kind of movies do you like?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about movies and ask other people about their favorite kinds of movies.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
तुम्हें किस तरह की फ़िल्में पसंद हैं? (Tumhen kiS Tarah kii fiLmen paSaND hain?)
मुझे डरावनी फ़िल्में पसंद हैं। (mujhe daraavaNii fiLmen paSaND hain.)
Once more with the English translation.
तुम्हें किस तरह की फ़िल्में पसंद हैं? (Tumhen kiS Tarah kii fiLmen paSaND hain?)
“What kind of movies do you like?”
मुझे डरावनी फ़िल्में पसंद हैं। (mujhe daraavaNii fiLmen paSaND hain.)
“I like horror movies.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What kind of movies do you like?”
That's:
तुम्हें किस तरह की फ़िल्में पसंद हैं? (Tumhen kiS Tarah kii fiLmen paSaND hain?)
Listen to it again:
तुम्हें किस तरह की फ़िल्में पसंद हैं?, तुम्हें किस तरह की फ़िल्में पसंद हैं? (Tumhen kiS Tarah kii fiLmen paSaND hain?, Tumhen kiS Tarah kii fiLmen paSaND hain?)
This Hindi sentence translates as "You what type of films like are?" But it means “What kind of movies do you like?”
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
मुझे [type of movie] पसंद हैं। (mujhe [type of movie] paSaND hain.)
This Hindi sentence translates as "I [type of movie] like are." But it means "I like [type of movie] movies."
For example:
“I like horror movies.”
मुझे डरावनी फ़िल्में पसंद हैं।, मुझे डरावनी फ़िल्में पसंद हैं। (mujhe daraavaNii fiLmen paSaND hain., mujhe daraavaNii fiLmen paSaND hain.)
