Hello Listeners! How will you ask "From where can I get a bus to Red Fort"?

Hi Sabina,

The word for 'passing by' is "गुज़रना guzarNaa". You can find this in the Vocabulary list.

Re. देर “der” - it does mean late. 'being late' is Hindi is "देर करना Der karNaa" (as in, Sorry for being late), and 'delay' is usually "देरी Derii".

Hope that helps! Thank you for writing in.

Best,

Udita

And can you please spell the word in Hindi and in Roman letters for "passing by" (gosarti) which is being mentioned in this lesson, but not mentioned in the lesson materials?

देर "der" : Doesn't it also mean "late"? What is the correct word for "being late" and for "delay"?

यहाँ से वहाँ तक कितनी देर लगती है?

From here to there how long does it take?

बस चाँदनी चौक के सामने भी रुकती है?

Does the bus also stop in front of Chandni Chowk?

बस का किराया कितने का है और बस कब जाती है?

How much is the bus fare and when does it go?

Well this lesson came in handy when trying to organise my Residency Certificate in Bhopal earlier this year. I hope you don't mind, but I mentioned it in my blog ....... the story was as much a learning of my Western ways needing to learn patience and meditation under duress as enjoying Bhopals Old City.

I hope you don't mind me mentioning it ...

“maaf kiijye, Old City jaati hai” The subject “this bus” is implied.

“Old City ko kiTnii Der hai? How long does it take to get to the Old City?”
