Hi Abdulrahman,

Thanks for your question!

"aapane hinDi kahan se seekhi?" This sentence will remain the same whether you are addressing a male or female. This is because "Hindi" is feminine.

Similarly, "mainey yah viDyalaya mein seekhi thi", here too since "yah" refers to "Hindi" it will be "seekhi" and nothing else.

In short, in these two sentences, it doesn't matter whether you are male or female. The sentences will remain same because the verb (seekhana) is dependent on "Hindi".

All the best!

Namaskar, I have one concern in Hindipod101 ... You guys usually do not show if this is meant for male of female... or if this verb is for male of female... how would a beginner know? for example

"aapne hinDi kahan se seekhi?" Will it be "aapne hinDi kahan se seekha?" if addressing a male?

and also

"mainey yah viDyalaya mein seekhi thi" Will it be "mainey yah ghar par seekha thi" if I am a male

Thank you so much for the help! Shukriya

Hi Alison,

Your sentence is almost correct. Just a few mistakes in spellings "मैने यह धर पर मीखी थीं " would be "मैंने यह घर पर सीखी थी". "I learned it at home."

Let me know if you have any further queries.

Cheers!

Hi Maria,

"seekhi" means "learned". So when you say "I have learned Hindi from HindiPod101." that in Hindi would be "maiNe HiNDii HiNDiipod101 Se Siikhii hai". And "padh rahe" means reading or studying. So when you say "I am studying for exams" that in Hindi would be "maiN ekzaamS ke liye padh rahii hoon."

Hope this helps. Feel free to discuss more!

Cheers!

Namaste,

what is the difference between seekhi and padh rahe? Are there different meanings? When will I use which one?

Thanks in advance

Maria

मैं ने यह तीन जगहों में सीखी थी। भारत में, इंटरनेट पर और मेरे परिवार के साथ।

I leaned it in three places. In India, on the Internet and with my family.
