Hello everyone. Welcome back to HindiPod101.com, the easiest, smartest and quickest way to learn Hindi online. My name is Anuj Khurana and today, we are going to learn the most commonly used words in Hindi.
1. नमस्ते|
(NamaSTe.)
"Hello."
So, first word is NamaSTe. So this is a very courteous way of saying “hello” in Hindi. So whenever we want to greet someone in Hindi, we just fold our hands and say, NamaSTe which means “hello” in English.
2. सुप्रभात|
(SuprabhaaT.)
"Good morning."
Moving on to the next word which is,
सुप्रभात|
(SuprabhaaT.) which means,
"Good morning."
3. शुभ रात्री|
(subh raaTrii.)
"Goodnight."
Subh raaTrii which means,
“goodnight”
4. शुभ संध्या|
(subh SaNDHyaa.)
"Good evening."
Subh SaNDHyaa which means,
“good evening.”
5. आप का नाम क्या है?
(aap kaa Naam kyaa hai?)
"What's your name?"
Moving on to the next set of words which is,
आप का नाम क्या है?
(aap kaa Naam kyaa hai?) Which means in English,
“What is your name?”
6. मैं (name) हूँ|
(main (name) huun.)
"I'm (name)."
So to reply to this question, we can always answer like,
(mere Naam aNuj khuraaNaa hai.)
“my name is Anuj Khurana.”
7. आपसे मिलकर ख़ुशी हुई| (aapSe miLkar khusii huii.) "Nice to meet you."
8. आप कैसे हैं? (aap kaiSe hain?) "How are you?"
So our next set of words is asking someone how they are doing.
आप कैसे हैं? (aap kaiSe hain?) “how are you?”
9. जी, मैं ठीक हूँ। और आप? (jii, main thiik huun. aur aap?) "I'm fine, thanks. And you?"
So, to reply to this question, we can always answer like,
मैं ठीक हूँ। (main thiik huun) “I am fine, thank you.”
10. कृपया| (kripayaa) "Please."
कृपया| (kripayaa) which means “please.”
Whenever we are requesting someone, we always use this word कृपया| (kripayaa.)
kripayaa aap mujhe apNaa peN De Diijiye. “please give me your pen.”
So always remember, कृपया| (kripayaa) is a very courteous way of saying “please.”
11. धन्यवाद| (DHaNyavaaD.) "Thank you."
Our next word is “thank you” धन्यवाद| (DHaNyavaaD)
DHaNyavaaD, aapNe mujhe yahaaN par bulaayaa. “thank you for inviting me here.”
12. कोई बात नही| (koi baaT Nahiin.) "You're welcome."
कोई बात नही| (koi baaT Nahiin) which means, “you are welcome.”
So whenever someone is saying thank you to us like धन्यवाद| (DHaNyavaaD) in Hindi, we can always address them like, कोई बात नही| (koi baaT Nahiin.) “you are welcome.”
13. हाँ| (haan.) "Yes."
So the next word is हाँ| (haan) which means, “yes”
haaN, mere Naam aNuj khuraaNaa hai. “yes, my name is Anuj Khurana.”
14. नहीं| (Nahiin.) "No."
So opposite to yes, the next word is no, नहीं| (Nahiin.)
NahiiN, maiN raj diNar NahiiN khaauuNgaa. “No, I am not going to have dinner tonight.”
15. ठीक है। (thiik hai.) "Okay."
ठीक है। (thiik hai.) which means “okay” in English.
THiik hai, raj aap THodaa laet aa jaaNaa. “Okay, you can come a bit late today.”
16. मुझे माफ़ कीजिए। (mujhe maaf keejiye ga.) "Excuse me."
मुझे माफ़ कीजिए। (mujhe maaf keejiye ga.)। which means, “excuse me.”
17. मुझे क्षमा करे| (mujhe ksamaa kare.) "I'm sorry."
मुझे क्षमा करे| (mujhe ksamaa kare.) which means, “please forgive me.”
mujhe ksamaa kareiN, aaj maiN THodaa laet huuN. “please forgive me. I am a bit late today.”
18. शौचालय कहाँ है? (saucaalay kahaan hai?) "Where is the restroom?"
शौचालय कहाँ है? (saucaalay kahaan hai?) which means “where is the restroom?”
19. एक मिनट रुकिए। (ek miNat rukie.) "Wait a moment."
Our next set of words are एक मिनट रुकिए। (ek miNat rukie.) which means, “wait a moment.”
ek miNat rukiye, maiN abhii vaapaS aaTaa huuN. “wait a moment. I’ll be back.”
20. यह कितने का है? (yah kiTNe kaa hai?) "How much is this?"
यह कितने का है? (yah kiTNe kaa hai?) “how much is it?”
It is like asking someone like how much is this? How much is this number?
यह कितने का है? (yah kiTNe kaa hai?)
21. क्या मुझे चेक मिल सकता है? (kyaa mujhe cek mil SakTaa hai?) "Can I get the check please?"
22. बधाई हो| (baDHaaii ho.) "Congratulations!"
बधाई हो| (baDHaaii ho.) which means “congratulations.”
baDHaaii ho, aap HiNDiipod 101 Se HiNDii Siikh rahe haiN.
“Congratulations! You’re learning Hindi from HindiPod101.com!”
23. फिर मिलेंगे। (phir mileNge.) "See you later."
24. (apNaa DHyaaN rakhiyegaa.) “take care”
Coming to the end of this lesson. So our next word is,
25. अलविदा| (aLviDaa.) "Goodbye."
So the last word for this lesson is, अलविदा| (aLviDaa) “goodbye”.
aLviDaa, ham jalD hii mileNge! “Goodbye, we are gonna meet again!”

Thanks for your question.


The use of capital letters and small letters is meant to help the language learner know the correct sound for the word. For example, the small "s" letter indicates the sound of "sh" as in English "ship", but the capital letter "S" indicates the sound of "s" as in "small".


In short, the sounds are different in both the cases.

Why The Romanization Word For All Lesson Is Contain Capital Letter In First Word Or Center Word .. If You A Base In This Pattern Or Not ..
