Namaste, and welcome to HindiPod101.com, easiest, fastest, and the quickest way of learning Hindi online. I'm Anuj and in today's lesson, we're going to talk about 10 Sad Words.
Let's start!
10 Sad Words
1. परेशान (paresaan) "upset/disturbed"
वह अपनी परीक्षा के नतीजे से परेशान है। (vah apNii pariksaa ke NaTiije Se paresaaN hai) "She's upset over her examination results."
परेशान (paresaan) "disturbed; upset"
2. ठेस पहुँचाना (thes pahunchaana) "to hurt"
मैं तुम्हे ठेस नहीं पहुँचाना चाहता था। (main Tumhe theS Nahii pahucaaNaa caahTaa thaa) "I didn't want to hurt you."
ठेस पहुँचाना (thes pahunchaana) "to hurt"
3. उदास (uDaaS) "dejected"
मैं उनके यहां न होने से काफ़ी उदास हूं। (main uNake yahaan Na hoNe Se kaafii uDaaS huun.) "I feel dejected in his absence."
4. उदास (uDaaS) "sad"
The next one is उदास (uDaaS) "sad"
तुम उदास क्यों हो? (Tum udaas kyon ho?) "Why are you sad?"
5. दुखी (dukhi) "miserable"
Ok, so the next one is दुखी (dukhi) "miserable"
उसकी हरकते मुझे दुखी कर देती हैं। (uSkii harkaTe mujhe Dukhii kar DeTii hain.) "His actions make me miserable."
6. रोना (roNaa) "to cry"
रोना हमेशा कमज़ोरी नहीं होती। (roNaa hamesaa kamzorii Nahiin hoTii.) "Crying is not always a sign of weakness."

7. हताश (haTaas) "disappointed"
मेरी मां मुझसे बहुत हताश है। (merii maan mujhaSe bahuT haTaaS hai.) "My mom is very disappointed with me."
हताश (haTaas) "disappointment"
8. हतोत्साहित (hatotsahit) "discouraged"
उसके बर्ताव ने सभी को हतोत्साहित कर दिया। (uSke barTaav Ne Sabhii ko haToTSaahiT kar Diyaa.) "His behaviour discouraged everyone."
9. नाख़ुश (NaakhuS) "unhappy"
Ok, so the next one is नाख़ुश (NaakhuS) "unhappy"
अधूरे काम मुझे दुखी करते हैं। (adhure kaam mujhe Dukhii karTe hain.) "Incomplete work makes me unhappy."
10. निराशाजनक (NiraasaajaNak) "dismal"
मैच में उनका प्रदर्शन काफ़ी निराशाजनक था। (maic men uNakaa praDarsaN kaafii NiraasaajaNak THaa.) "His performance in the match was very dismal."

For the words mentioned in the vocabulary list, they remain the same for both male and female.


In fact, even for "akeLaa" it will remain the same, if you want to say "I feel lonely". Whether you are male or female, you will say "akeLaa" like this:

main akeLaa mahaSuuS kar rahaa/rahii huun.


But if you want to say "alone" like, "I am alone", it will change depending on whether you are male or female, like this:

main akeLaa/akeLii huun.

I know that akelaa changes to akelii for a woman, when she's saying it, but do any other of these words change when a female vs a male says it?
