Namaste and welcome to HindiPod101.com, the easiest, smartest and the most fun way of learning Hindi online.
My name is Anuj Khurana and in today’s video, we are going to discuss about 10 Phrases We Should Never Use in Other Country.
So let’s start.
1. चलो मक्डोनल्ड्स चलते हैं।
(chalo makdoNalds caLaTe haĩn.)
“Come on, let’s go to McDonald's.”
You are traveling somewhere to some other country and you are not liking the food, maybe you are visiting a restaurant. You are telling in front of the restaurant owner,
चलो मक्डोनल्ड्स चलते हैं।
(chalo makdoNalds caLaTe haĩn.)
“Come on, let’s go to McDonald's.”
Well, that’s rude because in the other way, you are saying that you are not liking the food of that particular restaurant.
2. Okay. Another phrase is,
मेरा देश बेहतर है।
(meraa des behTar hai.)
“My country is better.”
So if you are traveling to other country, I don’t think we should compare our country with any other country. I think everyone who lives in their country, they’ll just love it.
3. Another phrase is,
इससे बेहतर मैं घर पर ही होता।
(iSSe behTar maĩ ghar par hi hoTaa.)
“I'd have rather stayed back home.”
इससे बेहतर मैं घर पर ही होता।
(iSSe behTar maĩ ghar par hi hoTaa.)
4. चुप रहो!
(cup raho!)
“Shut up!”
चुप रहो!
(cup raho!)
So this is rude. If you want someone to be quiet, there are easier and polite way of saying that. If you just say चुप रहो! (cup raho!) that is rude.
चुप रहो! (cup raho!) which means,
“Shut up!”
5. मुझे आपकी संस्कृति में ज़्यादा दिलचस्पी नहीं है।
(mujhe aapkii sanskriiTii meiN zyaaDaa DilchaSpii Nahĩĩ hai.)
“I don’t have much of interest in your culture.”
मुझे आपकी संस्कृति में ज़्यादा दिलचस्पी नहीं है।
(mujhe aapkii sanskriiTii meiN zyaaDaa DilchaSpii Nahĩĩ hai.)
If you are visiting to other country and if you are communicating with the people of that country, you should not say this on their face. Whether you have it or not, but you should not say this on the face of the person.
6. Another interesting phrase.
मुझे नये लोगो से मिलना पसंद नहीं है।
(mujhe Naye logo se milNaa pasaND Nahĩĩ hai.)
“I don't like to meet new people.”
Maybe that’s your choice but if you are meeting someone new, you don’t have to say it on their face.
7. मुझे आपका शहर बहुत बोरिंग लग रहा है।
(mujhe aapakaa sahar bahuT boring Lag rahaa hai.)
“I am finding your city very boring."
Boring which is “boring” in English as well.
मुझे आपका शहर बहुत बोरिंग लग रहा है।
(mujhe aapakaa sahar bahuT boring Lag rahaa hai.)
8. Okay. This is not for foodies.
इसका स्वाद बहुत खराब है।
(iskaa swaaD bahuT kharaab hai.)
“This tastes very bad.”
If you are not liking the cuisine, local cuisine, local dishes, just don’t say it on the face of the person.
9. Another phrase is,
मैं अपना दिन होटेल में ही निकालूँगा।
(maĩ apNaa diN hotal meĩ hii nikalungaa.)
“I will spend my day in the hotel.”
मैं अपना दिन होटेल में ही निकालूँगा।
(maĩ apNaa diN hotal meĩ hii nikalungaa.)
10. यह बेवकूफी है।
(yah bevakoofii hai.)
Which means, “This is stupid.”
In different countries, you will find different people doing different things which might be stupid for you but it’s not for them. So you should not say this on their face that,
यह बेवकूफी है।
(yah bevakoofii hai.)
“This is stupid.”
Well, that’s all from today’s lesson. I hope you learned. We’ll be back with more such videos. Till then, stay tuned. Take care of yourself. Goodbye! Namaste! If you liked our video, please click on the Like button and subscribe to our channel HindiPod101. Take care.
