In this lesson, you'll learn how to respond to the common question ""Are you hungry?"" In Hindi this is
B: क्या तुम भूखे हो?
The first word in the question is
B: क्या
A: ""meaning what "" in English.

A: Listen again and repeat.

A: This pattern of first introducing a word at natural speed, providing the translation, breaking it down, and then giving it again at natural speed will be repeated throughout the series. Try to speak aloud as often as possible. The next word in the question is

To say ""no"", in a simple way, just say:
B: नहीं, मै भूखा नहीं हूँ
A: Which is like saying No, I am not hungry in English. Let's hear it slowly.

A: And one more time at normal speed:
B: नहीं, मै भूखा नहीं हूँ
A: Let's break it down from the beginning. The first word:
B: हाँ
A: meaning yes.
B: (Slow, by syllable) हाँ
A: Now repeat

Now it's time for a quiz. Imagine you are visiting India and a someone asks you if you're hungry. You want to answer Yes, I'm a little hungry.. Respond to the question.
B: क्या तुम भूखे हो? (five seconds) हाँ, मै थोड़ा भूखा हूँ
A: Now you want to say No, I am not hungry. Respond to the question.
B: क्या तुम भूखे हो? (five seconds) नहीं, मै भूखा नहीं हूँ
A: You want to say Yes, I'm very hungry.. . Answer the speaker's question.
B: क्या तुम भूखे हो? (five seconds) हाँ, मै बहुत भूखा हूँ
A: You want to ask someone if they are hungry. Ask the question
(5 seconds)
B: क्या तुम भूखे हो?
